Fundraising Dinner 2013

The Foundation held a fundraising dinner under the theme  changing lives through education on  Wednesday 20th November 2013  at the Laico Regency. We thank the many participants for the generous giving which will help to give secondary school education to several deserving (bright and needy) children next year. A candle loses nothing when it lights another.

The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation was established by the Government in 1966 with the sole objective of advancing education and alleviation of poverty. The Foundation carries out this mandate through publishing quality, competitively priced publications as well as running a scholarships programme. The scholarships benefit bright but needy secondary school students in Kenya.

Since inception of the scholarships fund in 1968, 9,500 needy and bright students have benefitted at a cost of KShs. 414 million. This has been made possible through profits generated from the sale of JKF publications.

However, the number of qualified applicants has been overwhelming resulting to a large percentage being turned down due to limited resources. It is against this back drop that we are seeking to partner with likeminded organizations and individuals to educate more deserving students countrywide.

Consequently, the Foundation held the fundraising dinner under the theme Changing lives through education on Wednesday 20 th November 2013 at Laico Regency. Every KShs. 1 million raised is enough to educate at least four (4) students in a County secondary school for four (4) years.
